History
The group Redeemed originated from the Praise and Worship team at Trinity Assembly of God church in Montoursville, Pa. In 1989 Chris Cordero, Sheila Stiger and Monty Hornberger formed the Trio and began singing as “Redeemed”.
In 1990 Keith Woodcock finished college and started singing with the group.
In early 1993 the group disassembled due to Chris moving out of the area and Shelia feeling the need to devote time to her family.
At this time Monty and Keith felt the call to continue and began to advertise for singers to join the group.
Approximately 6 months passed until calls came in and the group started to reform.
In February of 1994 Monty Hornberger (tenor), Judy Dieterle (soprano), Lynn Swizinsky (lead), and Jim Barrettt (baritone) all from the Williamsport area met to start singing and set the future direction for Redeemed.
Shortly after this meeting Keith Woodcock (bass) returned to Redeemed after joining another group for awhile.
In March of 1994 the group performed their first concert. Over the next two years the group became very busy and started singing most weekends.
In late 1996 Judy decided to leave the group to spend more time with her grandchildren.
From that point the group was known as the Redeemed Quartet and sang from 60 to 80 concerts a year.
In 1999 Lynn felt the call to go into full time ministry and started Second Chance Ministries.
In November of 1999 Ron Kelly joined Redeemed as lead singer. Ron sang full time with many well known southern gospel quartets such as the Keystone Quartet and the Envoys. Ron’s contribution to the group opened up new doors because he was an ordained minister. The group not only sang but Ron preached for many revival services. Ron finally decided to retire from the group at the end of 2002.
In 2002, Gene Bixby joined the group as lead singer.
Jim decided to retire from the group at the end of 2007 for personal and family reasons. Although the group spent some time looking for a new baritone singer they could not find the right person and continued as a trio.
Jim Barrett rejoined the group as the baritone in 2014.
